Penis ring
A penis ring is a device that is placed around the penis – sometimes also around the penis and scrotum – to strengthen the erection by reducing the outflow of blood. It is usually made of rubber, silicone or metal (which is not recommended)
How does a cock ring work?
The penis ring works by applying slight pressure to the blood vessels that drain the blood from the penis. This keeps the blood in the erectile tissue for longer – and the erection can be maintained:
- harder
- longer lasting
- felt more intensely
become.
This is because the blood flows back more slowly when wearing the ring. At the same time, the penis can be slightly more sensitive due to the increased tension – which can lead to a stronger sensation of pleasure.
How is a penis ring used?
- A penis ring should not be worn for longer than 20-30 minutes.
- It should then be removed to prevent damage to the tissue.
Adjustable or flexible models are easy to remove. Fixed metal rings without a clasp or hinge should be used with great care, as they cannot be removed spontaneously and there is a risk of medical emergency.
What are the risks and side effects?
A cock ring is generally safe if it is used correctly. Nevertheless, the following should be noted:
- Wearing them for too long can lead to pain, numbness or congestion.
- Pressure marks or minor injuries to the skin are possible.
- Loss of sensation or discoloration of the penis are warning signs - then the ring should be removed immediately.
- Solid metal rings are difficult to remove in an emergency. If the ring cannot be removed, it is necessary to go to an emergency room immediately. Sometimes an emergency team from the fire department will even be called out to cut the ring open.
It is important to note that anyone with circulatory disorders or who regularly takes blood-thinning medication should consult a doctor before using a penis ring.
