Andrologist
What does this specialist do?
An andrologist is a doctor who specializes in male reproductive medicine and sexual health. He is, so to speak, the male counterpart to the gynecologist.
Andrologists deal with topics such as:
- Fertility and the unfulfilled desire to have children
- Hormone disorders, e.g. a lack of testosterone
- Erection problems or other sexual dysfunctions
- Changes in the testicles, sperm production or the penis
- Questions about male contraception (e.g. vasectomy)
An andrologist is often a urologist with additional training in the field of andrology. Some clinics or practices offer andrology consultations specifically for men – especially when it comes to sensitive topics that are not “just talked about”.
