Male surgery
Men’s surgery comprises specialized surgical procedures aimed at improving or harmonizing the external appearance of the male body. It is aimed at men who wish to change their body for physical, functional or psychological reasons – with the aim of improving their self-image and well-being.
Typical areas of male surgery are
- Face: e.g. eyelid lifting, nose correction (rhinoplasty), hair transplantation
- Upper body: e.g. breast correction for gynecomastia (enlargement of the male mammary gland), abdominoplasty
- Body contouring: e.g. liposuction, body contouring after weight loss
Special features of male surgery:
- Men have a different skin structure, muscle density and fat distribution than women.
- The aesthetic goal is often a clearly contoured, masculine appearance.
- Expectations of discretion, quick recovery and natural-looking results are often very high for men.
Requirements for the treating surgeon:
- Specific experience with male anatomy
- Knowledge about age-related changes in men
- Ability to implement individual wishes realistically and in a medically sensible manner
